Abstract

This study was conducted to examine oral health perception and behaviors of male adults in their 20s, who serve in the air force and general male undergraduates. Randomly selected subjects were 100 airmen serving in the air force located at Seosan City, Chungcheongnam-do and 107 male undergraduates. Data were collected and analyzed from September 10 to September 17, 2014. For the statistical analysis, frequency and cross analysis were conducted by using the SPSS 21.0 rogram (<0.05). The findings show that both airmen and undergraduates perceived that ¡®fluoride application¡¯ and ¡®filling grooves of teeth¡¯ were effective in preventing dental caries and their main purpose of dental visit was to ¡®treat dental caries¡¯, and that the frequency of snack intake was ¡®less than 1 a day¡¯(p<0.05). Oral health educations were more frequently experienced by undergraduates, while smoking was less frequently experienced by airmen(p<0.05).
The findings suggest that it is necessary to extend opportunity for airmen living in groups to receive oral health educations for enhancing and maintaining their oral health and increase perception of oral health enhancement.
